New log in requirement for the BT email app on mobile phone ?

Go to solution

Apologies if this is a duplication, but I can't find this specific.

Starting only in the last week or so, whenever I try to open the BT email app on my phone, it now always says session expired and I have to re- log in with user id ( email address in my case ) and password. I've never had to do this before on this or any previous phone for this app - just tapped the app and it's opened the email. I'm on app version 25.2.3

Interestingly, if I go to the BT app via Settings and App management in my phone ( it's a OnePlus Nord CE4 Lite 5G )  I can open the BT app and read the emails without any log in requirement. I've made no adjustments to my phone recently. If it's at all relevant to my email I have BT broadband.

Has BT changed the rules on access to the app and I've missed an announcement ? Or a software update ? Whilst I appreciate it's hardly life and death, having now to log in every time is an irritant in that I can't operate the app as easily as I have in the past.

Look forward to any comments

Thanks  JeffS

No idea, but I would suggest ditching the dire BT email app and use a decent one such as Blue Mail.

With fingers crossed, it does appear that the problem may have resolved itself, so I will monitor it going forward.

However I recall "dump the app for Blue Mail" was also your response to a previous question I raised, which other contributors were able to answer. I did look at user reviews of Blue Mail on Google Play and Trust Pilot, and they didn't exactly inspire confidence.

Hi - I didn't look at the BT App reviews , because I've been using it for a long time and other than a specific permission problem 18 months ago ( to which I think you provided the solution ) , it does what I need it to. If, as I hope, this problem has also  gone away, then I'm content.
