Password retrieval

Go to solution

Does anyone know how to retrieve and change the email password for an account that was created as a sub account underneath my own email account?

It uses to be that I could sign into BT mail and change it through the settings within my own account but that facility seems to have disappeared??

We have since changed a device and need to set up the email on it using the sub account email address but we have no idea what the password is!

I've looked at instructions within BT but everything that's stated there doesn't work for me. There's no facility to access sub accounts within BTmail as far as I can see.

Thank you

If the email account you want to change has not been "gifted" to another person, you need to log into your MyBT then go to "Your Products" then "Email,Manage" then find the email address you want to change in your list of email accounts then select it by clicking on "See Options" and you should be presented with the option to change its password.

If the email account has been "gifted" and they receiver has set up their own BTID and MyBT that person will need to do the above via their MyBT.

Thanks for your prompt reply.

I have tried that method but 'email' isn't listed in the 'your products' section in MyBT so I'm not sure how to proceed.

I can only think that I don't have this facility in MyBT that it's something to do with the length of time I've had this email and it isn't part of BT's systems even though it's a btinternet email address.

I am assuming you are presently a BT Broadband customer.

Is the email account you want to change the password on still active and used on a frequent basis?

If it has not been used in a 150 day period it may well have been deleted.

See link.

Why has my email address been suspended or deleted? | BT Help

In any event if you set up the email account from YOUR Broadband account you should have all the BTMail email addresses showing in your MyBT> Your Products > EMail, Manage.

If the email accounts that you have set up are not there you will need to contact BT Billing 0330.1234.150 and ask them to include your email addresses in to your MyBT so that you can manage them. This may entail you talking to the BTMail email team.

Thanks again for your reply.

I am a BT broadband customer and yes, the email account in question is frequently used. It was used last Friday on a different device.

I'll try calling the number you've provided and see what they say.

Thanks again
