No, bt home hub 2 router
@Kodikid That the SH2 falls in to the "modernish" category is precisely why I phrased it that way. It's chipset should be perfectly capable of delivering near 1Gbps to the WAN port if needed.
The caveat here being that you really do need devices and interfaces capable of handling such throughput - which the phrasing from our OP would suggest they do have! I've devices with 1Gbps ethernet ports which will talk over a 1Gbps connection, but either thanks to the interface or the lacklustre capabilities of the device can definitely not saturate the connection - and when it come to 2.5Gbps I've only a couple of device that can saturate the connections. WiFi is even worse!
I'm surmising you've phoned BT
You told them your predicament hoping they would do something their end to give you what you're paying for.
They informed you that you are indeed getting 900mbps to the router.
That router being a wifi 5 SH2
In my capacity of pointless advice provider can I suggest you consider changing the router.
BT offered me 900mbps for a £1 extra from 500mbps to obviously get me to commit to a further 24 months
On the morning of the change over nothing had changed.
Thinking they must have forgotten I phoned and was told I was getting it..900mbps to the hub.
I did some research and discovered to really benefit from 900mbps you need a wifi 6 router
Can I pointlessly suggest you consider this option
Do stop peddling your same old rubbish, it is getting tedious.
What on earth has WiFi 6 got to do with an Ethernet connected device.
You're missing the point...oh wait it's pointless
