BT Essentials Broadband - slow installation and installation query

Go to solution

Signed up for the BT Essentials Broadband earlier today. BT rep said the broadband will be installed on the 25th June and should be live around 2 days after the installation.

I later had an email from BT stating that the installation date is the 13th July, should it take around 3 weeks to carry out a new installation?

Previously the property had broadband installed which was the 36Mbit/s speed. The Essentials service just ordered is also 36Mbit/s speed, so I though the installation would be easy and straight forward. However, BT are stating that the installation work will require new holes to be drilled in the wall and the landlords permission will be required. What is the reason for the new holes to be drilled instead of using the previous holes from the older installation?

It’s likely your address can get FTTP now , so the previous FTTC (copper pair wiring) is effectively redundant and not used again , because of this the new FTTP (full fibre) network needs to be installed into your address , hence the longer lead time etc needed for additional work
