BT Fibre External Box

Hi.

My BT grey duct terminates inside my house. Can BT  terminate the fibre straight into the white wall box, or will I have to have both boxes visible in my hall ?

Thanks

Mark

Re: BT Fibre External Box

you will have 2 boxes  first is where the external fibre cable is joined to the internal fibre cable and then the ONT (modem) where you connect your router.  you may be able to persuade installer to use a small cigar shaped CSP to join the cables like I have

ONT + internal CSPONT + internal CSP

Re: BT Fibre External Box

Regardless of where fitted, you need both a CSP and an ONT. The external cable cannot be terminated directly in the ONT.

Re: BT Fibre External Box

The only way to have the External Lead In connected directly to an ONT would be to use a Field Fit Connector.

Openreach did use them for a short while but abandoned them years ago as they had a high failure rate.

If the Duct comes up inside they’ll use an Internal CSP. Like in the pic above, although the new ones look slightly different.
