Broadband and phone into one account for FFTP

We've recently been told by Openreach that we have "Full Fibre To Property" available.  We would like to have this for our broadband and landline, keeping our existing phone number.  Currently, I pay for our BT landline in my name, and my partner pays for our Sky broadband in his name.  Is it a good idea to switch the broadband from Sky into my BT account before I order the BT fibre broadband?  If so, can BT do the switch for us, even though the Sky broadband is not in my name?

Re: Broadband and phone into one account for FFTP

The easiest way will to be to order BT FTTP in your name and just cancel Sky.

You will be offered the option to have either BT Broadband only or BT Broadband and Phone. Obviously if you wish to keep a landline phone you will select the Broadband and phone option. If I remember correctly you will be asked if you already have a phone. It will however mean that you will be moved to BT Digital Voice but that is a seamless transfer.

This should allow your present BT phone number to be kept.

Cancelling Sky may incur cancellation fees if you are still in contract. If you are out of contract it will just mean giving the number of days notice to cease their broadband.

Thank you for your reply.  Do I need to get Openreach to connect their full fibre to my house, before I can order the BT FTTP?

No, you cannot contact Openreach, they are not public facing. You just need to place your order with BT.

Just follow the "Broadband" button in the menu bar at the top of this page or use this link.

Broadband | Home Broadband & Line Rental | BT

EDIT: I have just checked so remember to select the Broadband and Phone option and select that you do have a phone and it will ask for your present phone number.

Re: Broadband and phone into one account for FFTP

If you have what is now a very rare setup called SMPF , shared metallic path facility, where you pay BT for ‘line rental’ and a separate company, Sky in your case , for broadband, then if you migrate your landline BT service to BT FTTP , because SMPF broadband cannot exist without a host ‘line’ it should automatically cause the cessation of the Sky broadband, but its my understanding that many years ago , Sky basically gave SMPF customers a choice , join Sky for both services and drop BT  , so Sky also provided the dialtone/calls as well as broadband or find a new provider, in other words they stopped supporting SMPF connections ( as did most companies that offered it ) so its unusual for you to still be on this legacy product.

It’s preferable to switch your landline directly to BT FTTP rather than Sky to BT for broadband then migration to FTTP ,if you are somehow still on SMPF , infact that may not work anyway as once FTTP is available, you can’t order FTTC as the BT system will signal that FTTP is available and steer orders to that .
