CBT being installed.

I spoke to Openreach mid December, they said they was able to find a solution for FTTP and that’s a CBT being installed. I noticed there is no poles around my area and there is like DP (underground) around 10 steps from my house.

When it comes available, Would it be cheaper and more easier to installed FTTP directly from CBT in the DP than to dig up half of the street? They can go a cross the land of grass that is never been used or touched to my property? They said it will be installed soon and I should have it around the end of February.

There is no ducting to my property so they said the easy way to do it is via CBT.

After years of waiting and wasting stupid money on standard 15 up and 1 down. See others around the area having it installed and I am really happy.

Re: CBT being installed.

A CBT ( connectorised block terminal ) is a fundamental part of all Openreach FTTP for residential SDU’s  ( single  dwelling units ) they are located places in joint boxes , pole tops and occasionally on building walls of small multiple dwelling units ( like a small block of low level flats /maisonettes etc ) .

If there is a Openreach jointbox large enough to house a CBT close to your address and it now houses the CBT that your address is assigned to , then if your property doesn’t have a duct from that box already , then one should be provided as part of your installation ( assuming you have placed an order ) …if what you describe is accurate,  your address should  be a two stage installation,  and the duct provided on the first stage .

Re: CBT being installed.

Install directly from the CBT in the DP. That doesn’t make much sense.

DP stands for Distribution Point, which is usually associated with Copper.

As and when you get FTTP they will run a Fibre Cable from the CBT to the wall outside your house. If your existing service is buried direct in ground you’ll have to have a dig done to get said fibre to you.
