Cabinet full and no FTTP

Go to solution

I live in a town. We have no Virgin and no FTTP. I'm currently on a 5g router but really need a solid connection as it is not working well.

All ISPs will only show me a copper connection at around 2mbps. My neighbour attached is FTTC with talk talk at 67mbps (same telephone pole connection as mine).

This leads me to believe the cabinet is full. Can anyone advise where I can go from here. Its 2025 and not in a rural area and only copper broadband....

City fibre and openreach have no plans either in this area

Can't read the screenshot on a mobile, what do the two entries in the far right column say?

If it says 'waiting list', there is nothing you can do except keep checking until it says 'available' and place an order immediately for someone else grabs the port.

When you say place an order immediately - will each ISP automatically update to show FTTC once a port is available or do I need to order copper and hope it's get pits through as FTTC.

I can't believe I can only get copper and there's no plans for any upgrades 😞

This is a BT forum so I assume you intend placing an order with BT.

Once (if) the column shows as available, place the order for FTTC.

There is no waiting list, as such.  It’s first come, first served, so I’d check it every day and as soon as it turns ‘available’ place an order straight away.
