Change Broadband Password

Go to solution

My BSKYB connection regularly cuts out, and to reconnect I have to put in a 14 digit password of mixed upper case lower case and numbers. This is difficult for a 79 year old with arthritis. Is there a way to change my password to something more user-friendly?

Re: Change Broadband Password

try

To log into a Sky router, open a web browser and navigate to 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1. The default username is usually "admin", and the password can be found on a sticker on the router, often labelled "GUI password" or "Admin password". It could also be your current WIFI password.

as a sky customer you need to go to sky forum   https://helpforum.sky.com/   this forum is for BT customers

Sorry, I should have made it clear that my router is a BT smart Hub 2, not a BSkyB product.

Re: Change Broadband Password

I'm totally confused, the BT smart Hub2 is locked to BT and won't work with Sky broadband.

Re: Change Broadband Password

I can only tell you that:
1 my router is a BT Smart Hub 2
2 Most of the time it works with my Sky box &QBox
3 Sometimes it gets disconnected (cause unknown) and I have to go through the Sky "Connection to broadband router" menu, which includes entering my 14 digit BT router Wireless Password/Key.
4 I would just like to change to a less demanding combination of letters and numbers - or have my arthritis cured!

Are you entering that using  the remote or something like a laptop?

Re: Change Broadband Password

Right, so you haven't got Sky broadband, you've got a Sky TV  box working through BT broadband.

Put 192.168.1.254 in your browser address bar to access the hub manager page.

Select advanced wireless (you will have to enter the ADMIN password of the hub, not the wireless password). You can then change the wireless password to whatever you like.

Re: Change Broadband Password

Thank you. I am scrolling up and down through a list of about 70 characters on my Sky remote. I don't know of any other way, but a keyboard would be more helpful.

Re: Change Broadband Password

My intended suggestion won't work in that case.  I'd follow Licquorice's instructions and set a password easier for you to cope with.
