Hi All
We are changing over from the SKY ADSL/Copper Wire Internet to BT Fibre Broadband on next week.
Currently the internet wire comes into the house from the corner of the back garden BT pole. The copper wire is about 50 years old and rusty poor condition.
I am understanding that this old copper wire cannot work with the Fibre Broadband of 75Mbpm, and BT will come out and install a new fibre cable into the house discarding the old copper wire.
My wife called the BT support for this query, but was told that the change over will be just as is, using the old copper cable, and no new fibre cable will be installed.
We are a bit unsure of this answer from the BT support. It is correct that the new Fibre BB will work with the old copper ADSL cable?
Have we been told something which is not the case, or it is the case that the Fibre BB will work with the old ADSL copper cable?
Thanks in advance.

There would be no change if you are getting FTTC (Fibre To The Cabinet), which uses the existing copper wires which do not rust, but can look very dirty.
Using the old copper ADSL wire would be problematic because it didn't work with the newer router of SKY internet which was for the faster speed (15Mbpm), and we had to go back to the old SKY router (slower speed of about 10Mbpm) to get the internet working.
I think the copper wire we have is either just too old, or in unacceptably poor shape for running faster speed internet of even for 15Mbpm.
I feel the Fibre router box from BT will have very highly likely chance of not working with the existing copper wire in our house.
Should we call the BT support and tell them about this situation?
Just leave it to Openreach to sort out, as they provide service, and will renew the connection if it does not work properly.
What guarantee minimum speed have by quoted?
75Mb Fibre 2 BB
Do not worry, it will be sorted by Openreach.
Openreach should make sure it works before they hand it back to BT.
