Well, a third party router may be a better choice. You are not going to be able to get a faster connection at your location.
I am on a 12mb ADSL connection with an upload speed of 1Mb maximum. I occasionally live stream on YouTube, and also can use the Internet at the same time without any noticeable issues.
I use a TP Link W9970 as my router, with a Tenda Nova MW3 wireless mesh to supplement the Wi-Fi coverage.
This router allows me to allocate bandwidth and priority to each device, so that some background upload tasks can run on a lower priority, allowing Internet browsing to continue. That is provided that the uploading is done on a different device.
Large downloads can be also given a background priority, provided they run on a separate device.
