There is an option at the top of the availability checker to switch to address search.
It has been said previously that Openreach won't switch a subscriber to a different cabinet to improve their speed, but you suggest that there is no actual connection due to this fault. Which again in the time that's elapses may well have been repaired. See what the checker says first. If not then maybe there is an option to change cabs, but @iniltous would know better than me.
