Couple of questions about Fibre one

Go to solution

Just hoping anyone here can answer a couple of questions regarding BT Fibre one broadband that Bt are keen to install in our house this year (everyone in the neighbourhood is supposedly moving to fibre).

1. the lights on the box installed at the wall - can they be turned off? My father in-law had it installed before christmas in one of the bedrooms and it lights up the room. Can they be dimmed or turned off?

2. we are using halo discs to improve signal around the house (its a brick semi detached house). Will fibre ensure we no longer need the discs, will signal for the entire brick house be better with fibre, or did folk need to keep their discs to enhance signal?

hope someone can answer the above.

cheers, naomi

You are talking about the green lights on the wall mounted ONT? No they cannot be turned off. Suggested you stick some opaque masking tape over them if a problem.

Fibre in itself will not improve your WiFi around your house. It just improves the speed into the house. So if you needed the discs before to distribute the WiFi signal around the house then you will still need them after fibre install (hopefully they will now give you a faster speed to devices but it depends how good the signal is).
