I was on the plans for Fibre this year, lots of work happening in my area, my neighbours are connected and the status changed to teams working in the area. But then everything changed and I am no longer in the plans.
On investigation it looks like there might be a problem with the telegraph pole my existing copper line is attached to - see the big red D.
I'd like to know if this means I can't get Fibre any more or if there is anyone I can contact? (Openreach won't engage) and there are no alt-nets that connect to be address.
D for danger. It is not allowed to climb D poles. Access will require the use of a cherry picker.
Indeed - but who schedules the cherry picker, its all in the realm of the gods I fear
Indeed, you literally have zero control over that aspect.
D means Do Not Climb.
As to why it can’t be climbed could be for a number of reasons. It doesn’t necessarily mean new Furniture and or Cables can’t be added to the Pole, it’s just that it can only be accessed via Hoist.
If the D Pole can’t have any new Furniture/Cables installed a job to replace it would already be in but if someone placed an order the job to replace it would be expedited.
If it’s OK to have Cables changed/added the Installation Engineer would Request a Hoist on the day of the Installation.
I can't order as there is not FTTP to my property yet, and while I was in the plan, I'm not any more and that may or may not be because of the D, but good to know its not entirely fatal.
Maybe I'll be back in the plans in 6 months.
They wouldn’t descope a CBT from a PON just because of a D Pole.
