Thanks all for the advice. I finally got through to a guide. Told them my problem and was given info on a new contract. This was only about 3 quid less than my current price. I said that it was too pricey so she " went to speak with her manager". Bingo. Still on Halo 3 but with an enhanced call plan and 11 quid less than I am currently paying. Good result in the circumstances. So it pays to question you renewal plans.
Thanks for sharing your experience here @outlaw123.
I'm really glad to hear you managed to switch to a plan that fits your needs in the end.
We have a range of packages available, and this can differ depending on availability in your area, so if the online options presented don't feel like the best fit, we would always recommend reaching out to our team directly.
That way we can discuss what will be the best option for you, and make sure we've looked into every option we can.

I tried to reach out to your team, but was told the Fibre 2 was not on her system as available to me. what do I do now.
It may not be called Fibre 2 but there should be a cheaper package that will suit your needs.
Call them back and ask what packages they have.
Do not be fobbed off that you need to keep thd Halo rubbish.
If they can not offer a better deal have a look around at other providers and be prepared to move to them
I was formally on Fibre Halo 1. I initiated a move to Sky. (A genuine attempt to move, I may add). Sky subsequently screwed up a full fibre install and so I cancelled. In the meantime, it seems to have prompted BT to make me a sensible offer instead of the rubbish they’d been peddling. It was for Fibre 2 on full fibre at only 55% of what I was paying before.
I’m not saying the same would work for you but maybe worth a try?
Halo 3 isn’t a speed profile it’s a benefits package ,
Fibre Essential , F1 and F2 are the ‘speeds’ available, you had Halo onto that, so for example F2 with Halo3+ , FYI , in order that’s 40Mb , 55Mb or 80Mb , what any individual address would get (on FTTC ) depends on the distance from the cabinet it was
….it’s possible the reason you are not offered F2 (80Mb) is because behind the Halo benefits you are already on F2 , or it could be that you are so far from the cabinet that F2 would be something of a pointless package, for example if the maximum your line could provide because of its line length was 50Mb , F1 at 55Mb would be the obvious choice to be offered , selling that customer F2 80Mb in view of that physical line limit could be seen as mis-selling
