Eero pro 6 instead of bt smart hub 2

Hi I have just received 2 eero 6 pro units. I can set the up in double Nat mode and they work fine. I have ffttp and want to remove the bt smart hub 2 from my set up. Seems to be not required as eero 6 pro can use ppoe. Anyway I set up the eero to connect as ppoe and input correct login and password bthomehub@btbroadband.com, pw=BT and plugged directly into the ont fibre connection. All that happened was white flashing light on eero that then went red. I have reset error several time and choose pppoe but can not seem to get it to work. Do I have to set the ip address as the original smart hub, do I have to set up specific DNS. I am slowly getting fed up. Thought this would be a five minute job but it is looking not so easy now. Any help would be appreciated.

All that is required is the PPPoE login details. Factory reset the eero and start again.

Try bt in lower case letters.

I just checked my routers settings and it's using bt in lower case letters.

Password is irrelevant, it isn't actually needed and can be anything. Some kit insists on a password so BT is usually given as the password.
