Re: FTTH

Dear 36ULW,
Appreciate response Openreach technicians indicated core size is small on the line and have previously advised speed would be improved if the core size was larger, dont' have all the history but lived at this location for 60 plus years and last generation have seen no complete copper replacements only repaired sections on failure, I suspect parts have been repaired with lesser cable grade to reduce cost and perhaps adhere to procurement strats. Common thread is ADSL is best suited to line age and condition from the plethora of engineers who visit. Distance last quoted from last engineer was 3.9Km on his all singing widget from exchange. PS I am not the only one who is having issues neighbours are 250Km away in all directions - all have poor connectivity <4Mb at the box around 2.0Mb at the device.

Re: FTTH

You’re definitely on ADSL?

Sounds to me like you were on an EOL but at some point in the past Openreach have built a PCP/DSLAM outside the Exchange so essentially swapped you from a 3.9km EOL to a 50m E-Side and 3.89 D-Side.

FTTC uses a much higher frequency range than ADSL so the loss in Sync Speed is a lot greater than ADSL.

Re: FTTH

36ILW thanks for the response, I will utilise this for my next enquiry as to how it is configured. I was advised that Fibre is at the exchange and a green box is located outside the exchange that forms a connection to copper services to the Hanmer community. Appreciate your update which hopefully will provide some discussions with my provider. As aired I am not alone and neighbours are experiencing poor service/connectivity particualarly when more devices connect for a signal. With just two its struggles with more video/screens fade and flick and stop working. Cheers g
