FTTP MDU Installation stalled partially complete

FTTP Install to a MDU. Have all permissions and way leave in place.

Just over a week after ordering OR came and put a cable from a pole to the building, and put cable around the outside of the building with various junction boxes on the outside. It looks like a very neat job.

But that's where it stopped.  No work was done inside the building to run fibre to the apartments.

Months have passed.  When I call BT Customer Service I am told that "it takes as long as it takes". Every week the estimated appointment date moves to the following Monday.

I have raised a complaint and its status says that I was due a call back but nobody ever called. I can see it was worked on three times on the day the complaint was raised... but since then... nothing.

If someone can tell me the reason for the delay maybe we can sort this out - but there's no information and no communication, which is ironic given the nature of BT's business.

I am stuck paying out of contract prices with Virgin Media until this is sorted.

What's the best course of action to get this resolved?

Re: FTTP MDU Installation stalled partially complete

It’s stopped because they’ve finished the Build.

Not all MDU’s will have Internal Build Solutions, many have External Builds. In fact Openreach favour External Builds over Internal as it’s faster to deploy, avoids having to deal with Asbestos Issues and many Fire Regulation Issues.

The grey boxes dotted around the outside of building will be External Breakout Boxes that can connect up to 4 circuits.

You’ll not be able to order FTTP the second they finished the Build as it has to be Audited by a CoW/FBC and then needs to go through a Commissioning Process to release it for sale.

As You said it’s been months though and the Audit/Commissioning doesn’t take that long so it’s possible they’ve done the MDU Build but further work is required out in the Network and or Exchange Build Work.

Absolutely no one on here will be able to say exactly why, only Openreach can.
