Hi,
I've been looking at the upgrades available - I'm currently on a FTTC but can upgrade to FTTP for the same price. The phone line currently goes through our front garden and into the house via an external wall. If I was to upgrade to FTTP would it be a case that a small trench would need to be dug through the front garden to lay the fibre cables ?
Thanks
Steve
Depends if it’s Ducted or not.
Most houses built post 1980 have a 2 1/2 Duct from the Joint Box in the street. Providing there’s no blockages the they’d utilise that.
If the existing cable is DIG, Direct in Ground then yes, to provide service they’d have to dig up your driveway/garden/etc.
What does it say for your address using https://www.broadbandchecker.btwholesale.com/#/ADSL/AddressHome
Post the results here (minus your address). We'll be interested in particular to the notes below the table as this will detail how Openreach would deliver the fibre drop cable to your address.
