FTTP installation VPN issues?

Hi everyone,

We’ve had an engineer here this morning to complete our Full Fibre installation.

Everything is back up and connected to the internet fine, but there’s an issue with my partner’s work laptop. For some reason, whilst it’ll connect to the internet itself, it will not connect to the VPN it needs.

I imagine there is some sort of configuration which needs tweaking somewhere, but it’s strange as my work laptop (which also connects to a VPN) works fine.

Has this happened to anyone else?

Re: FTTP installation VPN issues?

There is absolutely nothing for you or BT to tweak.

Your public IP address will have changed, does your partner's VPN connection expect a particular IP address? Their IT department will need to change the expected source IP if that is the case.

I am assuming you are talking about a VPN connection to a corporate LAN rather than a public VPN.

Re: FTTP installation VPN issues?

Thanks for the reply!

I thought that was likely to be the case, and yeah it’s a corporate LAN, not a public VPN.

Although, it works fine from her parents house (not on Full Fibre), and they obviously have a different IP address.  So do you still think it’s an IP issue?

Re: FTTP installation VPN issues?

Could be. BT will have various ranges of IP addresses, maybe your new address is in a new range that your partner's IT department haven't configured as an expected source.

Their IT department is really the first port of call.
