FTTP installs in nearby properties but no chance to upgrade in ours

We live in a relatively new housing development - 12 years. In properties less than 500 yards away, there has been recent Openreach works to bring FTTP to them. There is no opportunity for us to purchase a similar upgrade for our housing development, despite there being modern conduits around us for easy installation.

Our town is not on the Openreach rollout plan for at least the next year so we’re not sure why a dozen houses within sight of us have been afforded full fibre.

Is there any chance, now full fibre is literally in the next street, that Openreach could be persuaded to give us the service too?

there is no link from the community forum to openreach but you could use this form to contact openreach and if neighbours have broadband when will you get it  ( 500yds away is not in next street!)

Thank you. Ill have a look.

My phrase was, “less than 500 yards”, and it actually is, “the next street”.

Re: FTTP installs in nearby properties but no chance to upgrade in ours

Every FTTP ‘PON’ area has a geographical boundary, sometimes it’s clear where the boundary is , other times it’s not …so wether it’s a neighbouring street or a street hundreds of metres away that has FTTP is pretty irrelevant , the fact that somewhere near has got FTTP is neither a benefit or a drawback to someone else’s area getting FTTP

….as stated you can ask OR if your area is under consideration or not , even in areas that do have FTTP available you can often have small pockets of addresses that are omitted, if for example an area was fed primarily overhead from telegraph poles but also had a few more modern additions that were using underground service,  via armoured buried cables (no ducts) then the property served by poles could get FTTP but not the underground served property, and they could even be on the same street.

Re: FTTP installs in nearby properties but no chance to upgrade in ours

Thanks.

Having checked the Openreach fibre broadband rollout spreadsheet, our town is not scheduled to be part of it for at least 18 months.

The houses in the next street used to be served by poles but Openreach have gone to the trouble of laying underground fibre to the dozen or so properties.
We’re not sure why this fairly isolated road has been given preferential treatment - which required considerable groundworks - when our housing development would be fat easier, and cheaper.

I’ve submitted the Openreach form so we can only hope we get a positive response.
