Fibre 2 and free upgrade

Hi guys.  Signed up for Fibre 2 (on full fibre).   Installed yesterday.  Everything works fine.  Nice stable 74-75 Mb.

The advert also mentioned a free upgrade to Full Fibre 100 when it becomes available.  It’s available now, so anyone know how I trigger this upgrade?  Is it automatic?  Do they write to me or what?

Re: Fibre 2 and free upgrade

Unlikely BT will contact you.

If you use the following web page and log on as an existing customer it will offer what is available to you and give you the chance to upgrade/migrate to Full Fibre.

Re: Fibre 2 and free upgrade

This seems a little odd, usually the offer of an upgrade is for FTTC to FTTP upgrades , basically when a customer takes on an FTTC Fibre 2 deal which offers an upgrade to FF100 when FTTP is available, it’s to encourage customers to take FTTP as soon at it’s available and move off the FTTC equipment ….as you already had FTTP , ( so  not on FTTC  ) presumably you had  a choice or F2 or FF100 from the outset , in other words you were not on a FTTC F2 product to upgrade to FTTP ,

TBH  it seems unlikely that this offer applies to people in your situation already on FTTP .

Often FTTP FF100 for new customers is no more expensive than F2 (80Mb) when the new  customer is in a FTTP area , if that was the case with you why order F2 and not FF100 , but if F2 was cheaper then it makes no sense to offer a free upgrade to FF100 , surely BT would just make them the same price , a free upgrade in your situation makes no sense.

I suspect you will need to prove to BT this was an offer you qualified for as I’ve never seen this F2 to FF100 on anything other than FTTC F2 customers as an incentive to move to FTTP once FTTP is available.

Re: Fibre 2 and free upgrade

@iniltous  Yes, I was on FTTC.  The only reason I went for the Fibre 2 was because it was flagged as being on full fibre technology at this address and with the offer of a free upgrade to full fibre 100 when it becomes available.   Perhaps it's not yet availabel here.

@gg30340  Thanks for the link.  I'll take a look.

@gg30340   No mention of it on there, as far as I can see.

Re: Fibre 2 and free upgrade

If there is no Full Fibre products it means that it is not yet for sale at your location.

If the area has just been "upgraded" by Openreach it may be to soon for it to be offered for sale so just keep checking.

Re: Fibre 2 and free upgrade

Still makes little sense,

you say in the original post are on full fibre ,  FTTP with F2 not FTTC with F2 in the original obviously you could still ask for a FTTP regrade but I doubt it will be free , FYI , I’ve just checked on BT for an address near me , F2 on FTTP is £1 cheaper per month than FF100 (which is actually 150Mb ) so if they agree to regrade your FTTP it may be a little more per month and so not ‘free’

Obviously if you are actually on FTTC then this type upgrade to FTTP when it’s available is often offered, so perhaps you can give details of when you were on FTTC and why you upgraded  to F2 (FTTC to FTTP )  and not straight to FTTP FF100 , it makes no sense to do two regrades , F2 to F2 (FTTC to FTTP ) then F2 to FF100 , the normal offer  is straight from FTTC F2 to FTTP FF100 , or are you actually still on FTTC even though you say full fibre ?

I wonder if your case was either good or bad timing , if you ordered F2 on FTTC just as FTTP became available, then perhaps your order was  always FTTP  without you realising, hence the weirdness of this supposed upgrade , but it’s all irrelevant if you are on FTTC .

Re: Fibre 2 and free upgrade

Fibre Halo 1 (FTTC) for a ridiculous price.  Offered Fibre 2 (on Full Fibre) at a decent price to stop me leaving.  Offer of free upgrade to FF100 was also in the same advert.  FTTP and Fibre 2 was put in yesterday.  Still on 74Mb today, so I wondered when the upgrade kicks in, (or do I need to kick somebody to get it)?

Re: Fibre 2 and free upgrade

OK , I doubt you will get moved to FTTP FF100 automatically, you could call and ask for  the free upgrade offer to FF100 from F2 even though that’s usually FTTC to FTTP and not FTTC to FTTP F2 to FTTP FF100  ….I suspect they may agree to  an upgrade but not for free , but it may be for as little as £1 a month ….. but if your F2 ‘for a decent price’ is already better than the official list price for F2 they may not agree anything , I suspect the offer you have seen for free upgrades to FF100 won’t apply in your case as your ‘journey’ hasn’t been the standard one of someone on FTTC F2 for a significant period of time.

Re: Fibre 2 and free upgrade

Knowing BT of old, I kept a screenshot of the offer:

Edit: Typing at the same time as iniltous.  I'll take it up with complaints tomorrow then.   Thanks for your input
