Re: Fibre 2 and free upgrade

"Fibre Halo 1 (FTTC) for a ridiculous price. Offered Fibre 2 (on Full Fibre) at a decent price to stop me leaving."

If you're only getting 74Mb/s then I doubt whether you're really on "full fibre" which is FTTP. I suspect that you're still on FTTC with maybe an improvement in speed from your previous setup.

Re: Fibre 2 and free upgrade

How many times do I have to say this?  I'm standing looking at an ONT.  It's Fibre 2 on FTTP.

If they clear the damned picture of the advert you'd see what I mean!

Re: Fibre 2 and free upgrade

Apologies if I offended you, but 74Mb/s is a woefully slow broadband speed for FTTP.
I get almost 70Mb/s on my FTTC broadband

Re: Fibre 2 and free upgrade

No, it's an option if required. Not everyone needs super fast speeds.

Re: Fibre 2 and free upgrade

It’s not woefully slow for the profile, with transmission overheads etc , it’s an expected speed , these overheads are one reason why 1Gb broadband is sold as 900Mb , it’s really 1Gb but a speed test will be around 960Mb , some would undoubtedly complain that they don’t get Gb speed if it was sold as 1Gb , it’s better to offer 900 and then provide 960 (no one will complain about getting more speed ) .
In some way , taking F2 is not taking advantage of the speeds that FTTP can provide, but FYI , some customers on FTTP will be taking  40Mb services  (or a little bit less on a speed test ) because it’s adequate for their needs, 74Mb is  not woeful if it’s all a customer wants or needs , even if they are on FTTP  …..in this case the OP is happy with 74Mb but would be happier still with the supposedly free upgrade to FF100 (which confusingly is 150Mb)

Re: Fibre 2 and free upgrade

@ScarletP

I would suggest that the ad is a fairly typical BT **bleep**-up. The free upgrade, as @iniltous said, is for upgrades from FTTC to FTTP. As you've chosen a lower speed of FTTP, it wouldn't apply to you, as the "when available" part doesn't fit.

You can by all means pursue it as a complaint with the evidence you have, but there's also certainly an E&O (errors & omissions) exception clause buried in the T&Cs. If BT have any sense they'll offer it as a goodwill gesture for their error.

You don't often see BT and sense in the same sentence. 😀😀

Re: Fibre 2 and free upgrade

@Anonymous   I shall have a little chat with complaints then.  If they want me to pay £1 extra that's fine.  I wouldn't object to £10 extra but at the moment they seem to want £69.  That's just taking the p.....

Thanks for the input, everybody.
