Re: Fibre 2 and free upgrade

@Nigly   Did you read the other thread I pointed you to?

Anyway, to expand.  I initiated a move to Sky.  Although this was a genuine attempt to move, Sky screwed it up.  While I specifically requested an Openreach install, they sent CityFibre.  That's not practical here because of them having to dig the drive up.  They then tried to BS me about Openreach sometimes sending out CityFibre.  Total BS as they are direct competitors, so I told Sky to cancel.

In the meantime, BT had the good sense to make me a sensible offer.  Fibre 2 (already on FTTP) with the promise of a "free" upgrade to Full Fibre 150 when it became available.  It already was available here,  so I went with that and then tried to trigger the "free" upgrade, which resulted in me having to make a formal complaint about why the "free" upgrade was costing me £6 more.  I may have just been lucky, but what seemed to swing it was me making it clear I actually would leave if they didn't buck their ideas up.  They more 'worked their own system' than any deceit from me.  Perhaps that was an unfortunate turn of phrase, so I apologise if it caused any offense.

I'm usually reluctant to mess people about unless they do it to me first, but the implication here is that initiating a move somewhere else and then cancelling it might give them a kick up the ...

Anyway, good luck to you.

Re: Fibre 2 and free upgrade

I have upgraded from FTTC 80/20 to FTTP 500

I paid £25.99 per month for FTTC 80/20. I could have upgraded to FTTP 100 for the same price - £25.99 per month.

I chose to upgrade to FTTP 500 for £29.99 per month. I thought that an additional £4 per month was a good deal.

Re: Fibre 2 and free upgrade

Thanks.

They weren't interested in doing a deal to reduce the 2 to 3× overcharge. Perhaps the cost of these deals are being passed onto other customers? I've not had any responses to formal complaints. I've had to leave BT because of the huge overcharging.

Re: Fibre 2 and free upgrade

Thanks for rubbing it in! 🙂

BT were charging me  £87 for 70mB FTTC service, no frills contract.  They want 79.99  for the FTTP 500 service from me going up to 83.99 in March. Nearly 3x what you are paying for the same service!!

Re: Fibre 2 and free upgrade

It's a 24 month contract.

£4 x 24 = £96 gross

However it includes a £75 Reward Card, so £96 - £75 = £21 nett over 2 years

Wow!

You got an excellent deal! 🙂

It's a shame their products aren't offered to everybody like this.

Re: Fibre 2 and free upgrade

Thought I’d add my renewal experience, I’ve just renewed my F2 at £25.99 , but it was an extra £3 for the optional PAYG telephone which brought the total to £28.99, ( I was offered the opportunity and did consider dropping the telephone service )  , apparently the email renewal offer at £26.99  was the F2 broadband without telephony, so the email offer would have been £29.99 with PAYG  added on , so in effect I got an extra reduction of £1 on the email offer .

TBH , I’m fairly satisfied with that , no hassle as far as email address if I’d moved to a none BTGroup company, EE was still on offer (at a better price ) but as this BT renewal price is pretty much the same as what I agreed 24 months ago , I’m satisfied with the deal .

Re: Fibre 2 and free upgrade

I dropped the landline as the only calls we ever received were scams and for outgoing calls we only ever use a fraction of the included minutes on our mobiles.

Re: Fibre 2 and free upgrade

Thought I’d update this , and it’s not good , On Monday I called BT to renew and agreed an acceptable price ,  I have just received a ‘new’ email detailing my new contact details even though I had already received an email  on Monday after my call to BT , confirming what was agreed, however this new email today details  costs I had not agreed to , showing £4/month more than what was agreed .
I’ve called BT immediately , and the guide can see the order from Monday was cancelled and a new order raised by someone today  (thats what generated the new email I received ) .

BT  have now cancelled this new order (but can’t say who  cancelled my Monday order and why they  raised this new one , and why was it at a price that was not agreed ? )

BT are they to call me tomorrow to raise yet another new order with the agreed price  .

Re: Fibre 2 and free upgrade

I'd take it straight up with complaints.

If you'd already been sent the paperwork then in principle the contract had already been agreed.  It is possible that the 14 day cooling off period also applies to BT, but unless it does, surely it constitues a breech of contract?
