Thank you. I did say that my questions would probably be naive, but if you don’t ask…My logic was that the people responsible for the infrastructureMIGHT be interested in a fault or an error on that infrastructure and/or their hardware and a human being on the ground might be able to escalate it or point the query in the right direction. There IS an economic/commercial aspect to this…namely the fact that a part of the same group (EE) are being paid over £100 a month by me for other services, yet don’t consider me sufficiently “a customer” to do anything other than hand me off to call centres that end up as dead-ends…so your suggestion of a complaint to the corporate bigwigs maybe would be a good idea if all else fails.
I’ll continue to wait for a response from OR to the form, but in the meantime count my blessings…such as getting between 0 and 12 mbps on the EE dongle that costs 60% more than a 100mbps fibre. I have to laugh, or else I’d cry!
This may ultimately change nothing substantive but on the DSL checker instead of using the address option try the DN/ALID/UPRN option ( the UPRN specifically) there are a few UPRN lookup resources to find it if you don’t already know it (I doubt anyone actually does know their UPRN) , if you try it , does that change the survey information to what I suspect it should show in your case ,
Our records show the following FTTP network service information for these premises:-Single Dwelling Unit Residential UG Feed with no anticipated issues.
ONT exists with active service. No spare ports are available. Network is at capacity so a new ONT cannot be ordered.
Unfortunately even if it does show a positive indication that FTTP is available or even an ONT exists (although no active service ) as far as I know no ISP uses UPRN’s (unique property reference numbers ) to raise an order with Openreach
Thank you. I’ve just done the search with the UPRN and it returns “FTTP is not available” , with none of the additional comments you suggested. Don’t know if it’s relevant but it does say the exchange is an FTTP priority exchange, is a WLR withdrawal exchange, and has no SOADSL restrictions .
For interest, I’ve just done the UPRN checker search for the house next door…it returns exactly the wording you expected
It was just idle curiosity to try the UPRN .
Most of the extra notes like WLR withdrawal are pretty standard , FTTP priority exchange means your exchange area has a very high percentage of FTTP availability , so an address with historic access to both FTTC and FTTP will have no choice but to take FTTP for new service , but it doesn’t materially affect your individual address , and it’s not as if FTTP was retro fitted into your address after the copper pair service , so you could somehow try to take a FTTC service as a ‘consolidation prize’ , in your case as a newish build it’s FTTP or nothing , and unless the address data has the error corrected , ISP’s won’t be able to raise an order , as stated previously it’s odd this error appeared after Sky apparently successfully ordered service in the past .
Its just a case of hoping that sooner rather than later OR contact you to say the error has been corrected.
