The port in question runs via Cat 6 to one single PC, directly connected into the ethernet ( i.e. not via an intervening switch)

I did try swapping cables for port 2 and 1 on the homehub to see if this was tied to the physical port on the hub but the messages moved t the new port number which suggests its related to the device connected to the other end, i.e. this one PC.  When I have been using that PC for testing it gets full speed speed tests so is connected at a good speed. It doesn't seem limited to 10/100

What do these frequent Port Up / Down messages mean? Is it actually a problem?

apparently this PC gets put into 'sleep' mode freqenty. I'm told that once it is woken from sleep mode the internet connection is poor and the machine has to be fully restarted before getting a good connection again.
