Full Fibre Installation in my area

Go to solution

Hi ,

Full fibre is currently being installed in my area but my house is a new build and I think we've been missed off the full fibre installation program , there's approx. 33 houses which would be more than likely to switch to BT if we were able to as currently our only option is KCOM.

it would have been up to your developer to arrange with openreach to install fibre connections but maybe restricted being in KCOM area

Hi , the full area has BT installed as well as KCOM but the developer went with KCOM to do the initial install which was over 2 years ago with no more new builds being built and no restrictions for BT to expand there network by a further street , especially whilst they're currently installing the neighbour streets.

Hull area is unlike any else in the country in that KCOM are the incumbent, not Openreach , and presumably if OR were to overbuild they would be effectively an Alt Net , no different to City Fibre , Netomnia….KC have not been subject to the same scrutiny over their PIA as Openreach were , so competition in the Hull area isn’t widespread.

I suspect OR don’t intrude onto KCOM although the same can’t be said for KCOM who do compete in OR area’s, but KCOM are minuscule in comparison.

As stated , if this is a new build site and KC have built the network presumably you are stuck with them , unless an Alt Net comes along , that’s unlikely to be OR in my opinion

only openreach know when or even if they will install fibre in your area  you can try contacting openreach and see what they say  https://www.openreach.com/forms/fibre-broadband-availability---customer-form
