I have been given a date for Full Fibre installation.
This wasn't asked for, but that's fine, I'm happy with the upgrade.
2 questions.
1. I presume I'll lose my landline? That's fine, don't use it.
2. Important. My landline runs a short distance from a telegraph pole. Hopefully there has been a survey and they are aware if this. I don't want to take a day off work only for them to turn up and not be able to complete the work. The appointment is 1pm to 6pm so I presume this reflects the amount of work involved. Going underground would involve an immense amount of work!
Is Halo included? I previously installed it myself and it really can't cope with solid walls in a bungalow!
Anyone with experience of installation via pole?

if you currently have broadband and phone contract then that will continue just your phone will be digital voice VOIP meaning your phone will connect to back of hub and not wall socket as currently
If your phone line currently from pole then fibre will also run from pole . the timescale is between 1and 6 not it will take more that couple hours at most

They are pestering me about the appointment, I can now go ahead and confirm with a bit more confidence.
Halo is an expensive ornament that most people get no real benefit from. It is even more of an ornament with full fibre. Dump it if you can.
When you say the line travels a short way underground, is that in a duct or as a wire buried direct in the ground? If the former, they'll just push the fibre cable through the same duct. Doesn't usually take more than a few minutes.

OH is overhead, UG is underground.
Also, if it says "1 stage" opposite FTTP then that is a straightforward 1 stage install, no digging etc.
It's currently via pole which would be the easier option. Underground would invole digging up a lot of block paving and slabs to get around the back. Having the router at the front of the house is not an option due to the solid walls.
Just says full fibre - already on FTTC.
Halo helps just enough to make it useable but it's not great. I'll probably move them to the loft at some point (bungalow). Only really need it in the kitchen, bedroom and front room.

What do you mean you suppose you will lose your landline, if you mean the copper pair will be made redundant , then yes you will ‘lose’ your copper pair , if you mean will you lose telephony ( in this context presumably what you are calling call a landline ) that is replaced with Digital Voice via the broadband router (that’s assuming you have BT broadband) so no you won’t lose telephony it’s just delivered differently, that’s assuming you are not already on Digital Voice.
What relevance has the distance your copper pair runs from the telegraph pole , unless it runs down the pole and then underground, then the replacement fibre drop cable follows the same ‘short’ overhead route , concerning yourself about underground service if your current service is overhead is nonsensical.
If you already have Halo benefits (that you pay for ) then they continue as does all other aspects of your contractual obligations, minimum term , cost etc, you don’t get Halo as part of this upgrade if you don’t already have it , thus change is nothing more that changing the delivery medium from copper to fibre .
Are you sure you are being moved to Full Fibre (FTTP)?
If it doesn't mention it on the checker, I gave you a link to, then it is not available to you.
Do not confuse the move to the Digital Voice (DV) phone service, when the old PSTN (Public Switched Telephone Network) shuts down in January with FTTP, as that has nothing to do with Full Fibre.
DV will run quite happily over the old copper lines. (Mine was doing so for two and half years before I upgraded to FTTP). Unfortunately, the two have become confused because Openreach (OR) are very keen to make both moves at the same time, where they can.
Incidentally, putting the router in the loft may not be a good idea, as with DV your phone will need to plug into the back of the router rather than the traditional phone socket on the wall.

Edit. BT Openworld message says Full Fibre.
Try putting your address in then or the UPRN.
At the bottom of the purple bars it should say something along the lines of a 'new ONT may be ordered 'if full fibre is available to you.
(ONT is Optical Network Terminal...the new box they fit for FTTP. A bit like a new master socket but it requires a power supply).
