Hi
My order for an upgrade from Fibre 2 to Full fibre 500 is going through for live on 18/9/25
Will this mean a change of the Fibre 2 router and therefore the wireless password?
Thanks
Solved! Go to Solution.
If you already have a Smart Hub 2, then no.
If you don't then yes.
If you do need a new router, simply change it's network name and password to that of the old router rather than change all your devices.
I've seen this solution mentioned a few times. Wonder if someone could be kind enough to actually say how you do this and does this work on other isp's, ie changing from a BT router to say Sky.
Yes it is a Smarrt 2 hub
Many thanks for this.

You can do this without being connected to the Internet. All you need is the router to be plugged in and you can connect to it either by wireless or Ethernet.
You log onto the "new" router's admin page and go to the section showing the wireless SSid and Password. You change them to be your "old" routers SSid and Password and click save.
If you are connected by wireless you will be logged out unless your device was previously connected to the router that has the SSid and Password you are changing them to.
On the BT hubs log on using Home then go to "Wireless" then click on "Change" then enter the "Admin" password for the hub and a new page will open. Enter the SSid and Password you want to retain in the appropriate boxes then click "Save"
You can do this with any router that is not locked by its network. The SSid is only a name so that you can recognise it in order to connect to it and likewise the password can be anything you want it to be as long as it complies to the routers use of numbers, letters, symbols and length etc.
Brilliant...thanks for your detailed answer
