Full fibre 900 download issue

Go to solution

Hi I don't know if this is the right forum but I will try to explain my problem.

December the 12th I had full fibre 900 installed and I tested it straight away and I got 942 mbps and 32 mbps upload.

I thought that is brilliant considering my infinity to was 73 down and 18 up.

The past couple of times in the last 2 days I've only been able to get 72.97 down and 32.89 up. And BT claim for a 900 down you should get 110 up. All I've ever been able to get is 32 up. But right now I can only get 72 down is there a problem?

My download speed is normally around 942 down but in the past couple of days I repeat I am only getting 72 to 77 down. It has been more than 2 weeks now and I think BT guarantee a speed of 750 down on a 900 full fibre.

Any help would be much appreciated thank you.

Edit: by the way I have rebooted my home hub 5 and the first time I was getting 72 down it clear the cache and gave me back 942 down so I tried that again and it is still showing as 72 down.

Are you sure you’re using the HH5? You should be using the Smart Hub 2.

I have the home hub 5 and 6 and the smart hub 2. When my engineer installed full fibre 900 he plugged it into the home hub 5. The black cable with the red connectors on that BT mailed to me will not fit in the smart hub 2. The smart hub 2 only has a grey socket for the broadband and for gigabit ethernet sockets.

The home hub 5 has a red socket for the broadband and 4 gigabit ethernet sockets.

Also I asked the engineer why he didn't use smart hub 2 and he said that home hub 5 is fibre enabled.

If you want to use the SH2 plug the ONT into LAN4 then go to the web interface at 192.168.1.254 & enable fibre mode. That converts LAN4 to a WAN port.
