I am going to start keeping a log but it drops, the phone cuts off (have the much-hated digital voice) and the router light has changed from blue to purple/flashing etc. Is this the norm for BT in the evenings or when traffic is higher?
I don't notice it as much as just when using the laptop but with digital voice is causes a lot of confusion for the person at the other end who gets cut off.
I just wondered what others experience. Thanks
@Lila Digital Voice should not cause issues like you are experiencing. It sounds like there's an underlying issue with your broadband connection.
Are you on FTTP or FTTC?
Halo is an only benefits package , so Halo your halo doesn’t drop out , and obviously if your telephony is IP ( Internet based ) and the ‘internet’ goes off , so does your telephone.
As stated , are you FTTC ( fibre to the cabinet ) or FTTP ( fibre to the premises ) , if FTTP as well as the router dropping out and reconnecting, does the ONT ( the mains powered box the router connects to ) also showing any errors during this downtime, like the PON light going off or flashing , or the LOS light comes on ?
If FTTC it’s harder to do any fault locating yourself, but if you lose connection frequently, then report it to your provider, that presumably is BT are posting here .
I'm assuming it's fibre to the cabinet.
I'm afraid I have no idea what an ONT is. The router is plugged into the wall - that's all.
The connection has dropped twice already in the last 2 hours. Is it normal for BT to do this, presumably when traffic is higher?
No, it is not normal, you have a fault.
Phone CS 03301234150 and report a fault with connection dropping
