Hi, we have BT Halo 3, but however our Hybrid only gets a weak signal. In our road we have a very poor 4g, barely sometimes 3g. I have reported this time and again to 02, who are our mobile provider. It seems a waste to me to keep on paying for something that if needed, probably wont work. Is there anything that can be done with this? I have moved the Hybrid around a bit, but no luck, and we do know with our mobiles, these are poor. Thanks
I have no idea why you think O2 are involved, the hybrid connect uses the EE mobile network. It has nothing to do with your mobile provider.
Once your contract expires, remove the Halo 3+ portion. Easier said than done though
I have said O2 as they all share the same masts. We are all on O2 apart from my daughter who is on EE, and that signal is terrible as the O2 one as well. As stated here:
"mobile network operators (MNOs) in the UK, such as EE, Vodafone, Three, and Virgin Media O2, frequently share masts and radio access networks. This practice, encouraged by Ofcom, minimizes environmental impact and reduces costs for operators. Sharing agreements allow multiple operators to utilize the same infrastructure, increasing coverage and improving service for consumers."
I probably wont be renewing with BT anyway when the contract ends, will either be with EE(although the same company, but they dont seem to be able to migrate me over for some reason, and may just be able to order through EE's website as its a cheaper deal(without Halo) or Community Fibre broadband.
If you don't use the other halo benefits you could havr BT investigate the sale of the hybrid to see if it was suitable to be sold if the signal is poor. Other than that simply change your deal when you are out of contract. However not sure why you would add it on and expect it to work of you know you have poor 4G signal
Thanks, it was a couple of years ago we got this , I can’t honestly remember I think we were put on an offer, but your right, we shouldn’t have really been put on the offer if we don’t have a good signs, but yes I will contact BT to investigate
Signal bars are not the most reliable of predicting how good your experince will actually be.
You could test it by simply disconnecting your Hub from the from the wall socket and waiting a few minutes for it to change over to the Halo - then run a line test.
When ready, plug the Hub back in and after a while (can be up to 30 mins) the Halo will hand back to the Hub and use your phone line again.
Hi, many thanks for the advise, I have actually just tested(and replying to this while connected to the Hybrid, and does actually work, albeit slow, but I don't think its supposed to be that fast anyway, just so you can still use the internet.
Thanks
Hi I have Halo and so this evening tested it myself. I have 1 bar on the Halo box and speedtest reported a 38mb download speed which is more than adequate. Isuspect that if i plugged it in the loft rather than an upstairs bedroom the signal would strengthen and so would the speed. Tim
