Is the fibre cable "size" the same for 150/500/900mbps speeds?

Go to solution

I'm about to order full fibre, but haven't quite decided which speed to go for.  I assume there is only 1 size of fibre, then they throttle back or turn up the speed, depending which contract you go for.  Am I correct in my assumption?  I don't want to go for 150mbps then have to have a different cable installed if I upgrade speeds later.

There is only 1 fibre cable regardless which package you choose

The speed is effectively throttled by software to ensure you're only recieving what you pay for. Saying that, we're on an Openreach connection and paying for 500mbps but I normally get around 500-600 mbps. The highest I've seen is 750-ish
