Modem power supply

Go to solution

Can I open a bt fttp modem and remove the power cable which in my case it appears is wired into a battery backup ?
I thought I was moving to ee and had a battery backup to my router removed from my account to allow this -

a red flag still shows on my account so ee need to write to openreach to remove this .

No one from EeOr Bt on the three hours of calls made so far mentioned this till today …

battery backup in remote areas with poor / no mobile signal was offcom recommended-once .

any advise on the modem please ?

Re: Modem power supply

This all sounds a bit odd. Never heard of an ISP having to "support" a BBU. If it's what I think it is it's largely redundant anyway & can be just be bypassed by taking the power cable from the BBU, unplugging the ONT & connecting the BBU power cable in it's place. Maybe post a pic of what you have.
