I have recently had my existing Broadband converted to Full Fibre 900. Under the old installation my Hub/R outer was located at the rear of my house, with a Cat5 cable running back to a room at the front of the house to feed my wife's study. With the new installation, the hub has been relocated to my wife's study where the new ONT had to be installed. The existing Cat5 is now feeding a network switch at the rear of the house, which has a number of devices attached, including my pc.
The download speed in my wife's study is as expected very high, but the speed at my pc very low. Is this because the link is Cat5, and would the speed be improved by replacing this Cat5 with a new Cat6 cable? Furthermore, if I replace the Cat5 with Cat6, will I also need to replace the cables connecting the network switch to the various attached devices such as my NAS? Thanks in advance for any advice. Martin

ITYM Cat5e not Cat5a
Cat5 only uses 4wires and is only good for 100Mbps. Cat 5e used 8 wires and is good for 1Gbps
Thanks.
