New router for FTTP

I was sent a new router for my change over to FTTP. But engineer asked if I received a ETH cable (RJ45) to connect NBN connection box to new router. I was never sent one so broadband is down who in BT can send me one ?

Re: New router for FTTP

Its just an ordinary Cat 5 Ethernet cable, do you not have one somewhere?

I assume you have already been changed over?

Re: New router for FTTP

I'm a pensioner and all my devices are wi-fi. Why didn't BT or who ever supplied router provide a cable?

Re: New router for FTTP

BT normally send one in the post, as part of your order.

You are not going to benefit much from a fast FTTP connection if you only use wireless.

Has FTTP been activated and the copper connection disconnected?

Re: New router for FTTP

Cannot suggest anything apart from getting on locally, they are very cheap. Currys/PC World. Screwfix, Argos  etc.

If you look at your BT order, there should be a pending item for a short cable. If not, you would have to ring BT and ask them to send one, but its likely to take a while.

Re: New router for FTTP

It's really not worth chasing BT to supply this cable, they'll take ages to supply one and may not get aroud to doing so at all.
It's just a standard ethernet Cat 5 cable, readily & cheaply available in Currys, computer shops, B&Q, Screwfix etc.

You sure you're on the right forum, mate?  NBN seems to be an Australian expression.  I've never heard it used in the UK.  We call it an ONT.
