Poor standard of workmanship and positioning

Go to solution

Today my 88 year old mother in law had fibre broadband installed, we didn’t actually want it but BT are pushing it in my area has they are phasing out copper cables apparently.

The standard of workmanship is rough and I am not happy with it, I tried the online chat today and I was disconnected, I spoke to someone on the phone for 55 minutes and he could not help and suggested ringing back the next day.

the installation engineers name and phone number on the email was wrong, I rang the number and the guy said it wasn’t even his area and agreed the installation does sound rough and it is very common for poor installations.

I need the FTTP ONT box lowering about 24” and a new hole drilling in the wall, who can I contact about this as it is really unsightly.

You need to contact BT CS 03301234150 and they will contact openreach.  Openreach do not deal direct with the public hence why contact BT

That was who I rang today, they said ring back tomorrow, no help at all really. Is there an email address I can contact and to send the pictures to?

No email address you need to phone CS. You will different person next time you phone

You can always post your pic here and someone maybe be able to help after seeing the problem. Needing ONT lowered by 2' is quite a lot

You can raise an issue of workmanship directly with Openreach.

Whether the location of the ONT falls within the scope of Poor Workmanship I guess could be subjective.

The router was in the cabinet prior to this morning, why they couldn’t of fitted the ONT box near to the open reach box inside the cupboard and leave the router in the cupboard too beats me 🤷‍♂️

@Lefty25

Unfortunately your image has been quarantined, so no one can see it until it's been approved.

Don't these installations get inspected and signed off.

This is shocking.

Poor mum
