Raise an ORDI

Go to solution

Hello

can anyone help me raise an ORDI without phoning BT? I’m not able to do so because of a disability.

i moved into my new build property  and was told that the addresses would be added in time. However 3 years later they are still not. We have an access terminal box in the property with power and PON lights lit.

when trying to progress an order, one of the flats in this block has its address listed, and has access to multiple fibre packages, however checking on just our postcode shows no service. I’m confident that we have access to the network with the equipment inside.

can anyone help as it’s really limiting our choice of providers (ie - we have one and I hate them 😂

Are BT your intended provider , if not then whoever is your preferred ISP has exactly the same access to Openreach as BT , so an ORDI (Openreach data integrity) check can be raised by those providers in the same way as BT , it also isn’t a catch all remedy , it simple gets Openreach to compare its records to those with the Royal Mail and correct any inconsistencies, so is your address showing on the Royal Mail postcode checker and does the address offered by the ISP you ain’t to use match it exactly ?

Your preferred ISP should be able to locate your address using the serial number of the ONT , if the ONT has a steady green PON light (assuming it’s an Openreach ONT )

That’s really frustrating. Try contacting BT through their online support or accessibility form and ask them to check the address database using the nearby flat that already has service.

@GS1985

I have you checked your address is exactly correct on the royal mail database as suggested by @iniltous .  BT are very unlikely to help unless you are placing an order for broadband

Royal Mail address is correct, BT Is the only provider that shows my address option, so I’m happy to go with BT

@GS1985

if you are unable to phone then are you just getting broadband only with no  home phone?  you can go to BT web page or use uswitch or moneysupermarket or something else to help you select package and place order online.  BT like others are offering reward card for new customers  If you already have an ONT then quoting serial number will help your order

In your OP you state you

can anyone help as it’s really limiting our choice of providers (ie - we have one and I hate them 😂

if you have a provider that you ‘hate’ who is that ISP ? and how did they manage arrange service if there is an address issue that potentially needs an ORDI to fix ? , they must have used the same Openreach address data available to all ISP so how come they never had a problem , so just to clarify, is it an Openreach ONT that exists in the property and not a different network provider ?

It’s Grain - they don’t use the open reach network, and their equipment was preinstalled also.

Re: Raise an ORDI

OK , that makes more sense , Grain has nothing to do with Openreach or BT they are an Alternative Network provider .

If this is a new build and Grain did a sweetheart deal with the developer, and the developer basically locked out every other network including Openreach then you are stuck with Grain.

If BT show some availability for low speeds that ultimately may be irrelevant if there is no other BT network in the vicinity (that’s apart from Grain , so not even any Openreach copper pairs were fitted when the building constructed ) so even if you can order it , it couldn’t be completed and would be cancelled.

If for example there was a telegraph pole near by and it were possible to put up a wire from that pole to your flat (even if that was never the intended method ) you may have a chance at getting service from BT , but you may not want that , and the freeholder etc may object to an ‘ugly’ wire flying in from a pole.

This  info about Grain would have been better given in the original post , it’s pretty critical info , it’s clearly nothing to do with ORDI.

Re: Raise an ORDI

I’m aware that Grain have nothing do to with openreach. Having Grain broadband has nothing to do with my question.

I literally stated in my og post that I have active Openreach access terminal box installed in my property so they’re not locked out. Seems pointless to have both companies install equipment in your properties if you’re going to block one.

BT shows full fibre availability for my neighbour (2 floors down).

anyway thanks for your input, unsure why you’ve put it across this way though. I’ve managed to get someone to contact BT for me who will look into it.
