Re: Flying new fibre through trees

So it's an overhead feed according to that, and according to the box I have it's FTTP?

You agree?

Re: Flying new fibre through trees

But it begs even more questions, if you have a working FTTP service in your address the checker should say that an ONT exists with an active service, not that FTTP is available and an new ONT may be ordered ….

did you use your own address ?,

is there anything out if the ordinary about your address , like it’s a flat rather than a house,  or does it have any other non standard element like it has a suffix or prefix , like No. 1A ?

Re: Flying new fibre through trees

It's a Flat, but I put in as much as relates to where I stay.

Re: Flying new fibre through tree

If you entered your address exactly and it shows no active connection, then it’s no a big issue unless you try to leave BT to join another ISP , in which case although you would say to them you already have a connection (ONT) already , the records would disagree and the ISP will think you need an engineer visit to fit an ONT though one is already fitted ….or you move out and someone else try’s to get  a service started over the existing ONT , the same mismatch will be there and the same issues will occur.

The reason for asking about flats is they can be recorded differently to regular addresses and have a much higher probability of incorrect records, I’d guess because you say ‘where I stay’ rather than ‘where I live’ it’s Scotland where you are , and Scotland possibly has a different method of recording flats within buildings to (for example) England.

TBH , it’s no big deal until someone moves in or out of your individual address , or if (for example) your ONT is recorded as being in a neighbouring flat (that doesn’t have FTTP yet ) and if they order it , the ISP may say they already have an ONT and all the ISP needs to do is send a router out , saying the customer just needs to connect it to the ONT , but obviously that won’t be the case , and it won’t work , but that’s a potential future issue .

Re: Flying new fibre through tree

I've had it confirmed that I do indeed have full fibre to the premises.

Re: Flying new fibre through tree

Yes that clear , what isn’t clear is why your address records say you don’t .

Re: Flying new fibre through tree

Probably as you mentioned a problem with the format of the flat number.

Re: Flying new fibre through tree

Sorry, stepped out for a haircut there.

So, to get back to the original point, it seems your service does come through those trees!

Re: Flying new fibre through tree

@WSH

Correct.

Now, although I do have an actual active fibre to the premises connection to my ONT Box it's not recognised to my property by the site tests, this I'd like to be sorted and amended which would be done by my ISP provider, I just need a phone number to actually talk to someone to get it updated.

This was told to me by the infrastructure team, although it's not important as my service is running fine I'd still like it amended.

I did have a chance to have the cable rerouted but I'm not prepared to spend £130.
