Re: Unable to use EE app to manage EE Home Hub

Have you set up an EEID which is needed in order to use the EE app.

I could be wrong but I suspect however that if you have not done it yet you will most likely need an EE broadband or mobile account number in order to access it fully.

If you were not given an account number you will need to contact BT Billing 0330.1234.150 and explain the problem to them. It may be that you will have to exchange your EE hub for a BT hub.

That then makes it that you own the problem of not being able to use the EE app and BT will not be able to help you.

Re: Unable to use EE app to manage EE Home Hub

But if BT gave wifi 6 router so that I could get the 900 speed which I pay for then that would save all problems would it not?

BT like most other ISPs do not guarantee wifi speeds and the SH2 will deliver the 900Mbps speed to the router which is covered by the speed guarantee and what you are paying for.

It is up to you if you choose to use a different router and BT are under no obligation to help you use it.

You could ask for a Smarthub 3 which does have wifi 6 but I doubt they will give you one. They are only being given to new BT Broadband customers.

There are apparently Smarthub 3 for sale on eBay. It would be up to you whether or not you buy one keeping in mind that should it go faulty or turns out to be a rip off BT will not help or replace it. They know what type of BT hub they issued to you when you took out your broadband package. They will expect it back if you leave BT so do not dispose of the one you were given.

Re: Unable to use EE app to manage EE Home Hub

@Bazza1961  You cannot request or demand a BT Smart Hub 3 to give you the WiFi 6, well, you could try, but I suspect you'd get absolutely no where.

As you are aware, the SH2 is 900mbps capable, but obviously doesn't have WiFi 6, which I'm guessing is the reason why you bought the EE router? BT as you are now aware, aren't obliged to assist you with it in any way as you're intending to use it effectively as a third party router even though BT and EE are one and the same company. Boils down ultimately to the fact that the router wasn't provided by them.

Re: Unable to use EE app to manage EE Home Hub

SH2 which I have 2 of DO NOT give 900 mbps at the user interface, it only gets to 900 mbps at the router which meets the contract. SH3 will give 900mbps at the user interface if I had one. Wifi 6 isn't really an issue, but I do believe that some of the commenters on here have no practical experience to give, just summising what someone else's friends mother has been led to believe by the vicar

If you are directing your "experience"  jibe at me,  I have used all the BT hubs from the BT dial up incarnations right up to my present BT Smarthub 3.

I suggest that you re read what I posted. I did not say at the user interface, I said to the router.

Re: Unable to use EE app to manage EE Home Hub

@Bazza1961  Had you purchased a decent 3rd party router, and there are plenty out there at a good price with a decent App which give you complete control over your router, this wouldn’t be a problem. I use a 3rd party router with its own App. I haven’t used a ISP router for years. I’d certainly never purchase a grey market ISP router that my ISP wouldn’t support anyway, but that’s a choice people make. Much in the same way I fully realise my ISP won’t support me with my own third party router.
