I'm currently on the Bt fibre and have noticed the grey box outside my property which has the fibre coming out of it, has perished.
It is crumbling and my Internet seems to be affected.
I've out some tape over the hole to stop water getting in.
When I called the helpdesk, they said it wasn't something they dealt with and to call openreach.
The Openreach website is of no use for reporting this.
Could anyone suggest who to contact?
If it is Optical fibre then it would not be affected.
If you only have fibre to the cabinet and copper to your house, then water ingress may be an issue, but if you are losing your Internet, you need to report the broadband issue to BT.
You could try this Openreach page https://www.openreach.com/help-and-support/damage-health-and-safety
But they may not be interested.
Thanks for the reply. I'll try through link but if it doesn't help, I'll run my contract down and try another supplier and cityfibre.
The box will be OK, it's just the lid that will need replacing. I tried to report mine to BT a couple of years ago and they refused to accept it, the guy on the phone was adamant that there was no way there would be a CSP on my property. In the end I used the link provided by @Keith_Beddoe and it was fixed within a couple of days.
Thanks for the update. Hopefully if mention it's a CSP, I'll make some progress.
If its a CSP, water ingress won't have any detrimental effect on your broadband.
It's a known problem apparently, I was told that the early lids were not UV resistant but that the later ones are.
They probably won't rush out specifically to fix it and they probably won't tell you that they're coming, more likely than not they'll just fix it one day when they're in the area but they're never far away from where I live so I guess I just fell lucky
