Hi, I'm looking at purchasing an Orbi RBRE960 Mesh Router and have a question.
I currently have an FTTP box on the wall with a BT Smart Hub 2 connected to it.
I wanted to know if I can simply replace my BT Smart Hub 2 with the Orbi RBRE960. It says this product is a router so I'd expect to be able to do this but cannot find any definitive answers. I really don't want to fork out for the RBRE960 and find it doesn't do what I require.
I know I can probably connect the RBRE960 to the BT Smart Hub but that kind of defeats the purpose of purchasing an Orbi Router.
I'd appreciate it if someone could offer some advice
Kind regards
Mark.
Solved! Go to Solution.
If the Orbi has a PPPoE capable WAN port (which I assume it has) then yes, you can connect it directly to the ONT.
You will, however, lose voice capability as Digital Voice requires the BT hub to be the first device connected to the ONT
Page 30 of the user manual confirms PPPoE capability.
The generic PPPoE credentials are username bthomehub@btbroadband.com and password BT
Wow!. Thanks for the quick and detailed response. 😀
I appreciate you taking time to investigate.
Kind regards
Mark.
