When they install fibre , will the router stay in the same place ?
Solved! Go to Solution.
The router can go wherever you like. When fibre is installed, the installer will provide a short Ethernet lead to connect it to the ONT (optical modem) but there is nothing to prevent you running your own Cat5e or better Ethernet cable up to 100 metres to where you wish to site the router.
The location of the ONT can be negotiated with the installer within what is possible and reasonable.
When positioning the ONT bear in mind it will need powering from a 13A socket as will the router.
