We are fibre to the cabinet. speed continuously 55 - 55 mbps, which is our agreed speed.
A couple of weeks ago we had to go onto digital, and now the speed is inconsistant. can be 50, but usually around 18 - 22, causing buffering on the TV.
I have reported it to BT a few times and they say no fault found!!
Have just had a long chat with customer service and they say after various tests that the speed they are registering is within limits, but that digital will slow the speeds down!
This is called progress.
Any thoughts from anyone?
"Digital will slow the speed down"....absolute nonsense.
I was on 58Mb/s FTTC when I was moved to Digital Voice (DV) two and half years ago. I moved to 150Mb/s Full Fibre six months ago. During the two years in between my speed when up to 68Mb/s. (Mainly due to G.INP being enabled on the ECI cabinets). It certainly did not lose any speed.
The TV should only need about 5Mb/s by the way, so if it is buffering at 20Mb/s it suggests an internal problem and the move to DV was just coincidental.
You were told complete rubbish. Digital Voice uses about 64Kbps of bandwidth, it wouldn't even be noticed, and only during calls.
