Good day all.
we went full fibre last month and ever since the WiFi speeds have tanked. We are getting lower network speeds then when we was on copper. BTs helpline have said everything is fine but can’t explain to me why speeds are lower.
running smart hub 2 on a 150mb package but WiFi is ~15mb and was getting >70 on the copper.
any thoughts very much welcome.
The 70 on the copper, (I take it you mean ethernet?), sounds like either the interface on the device is only 100Mb, (it would have to be an old device for that) or there is a problem with the cable. It requires all 8 wires to be connected at gigabit speeds. Only cat 5e, (not cat 5), and above will do that and even then, all 8 connections have to be working. Try a different cable. It could also be a problem with the auto-negotiation. Again, unplugging and reattaching the cable should fix that.
Wi-Fi has always been a bag of pants. In its case it could be the hub is in a different position, the new hub is using a different channel, that is picking up more interference etc. The device has connected on 5GHz instead 2.4GHz, so the speed has dropped etc. Unfortunately, there are so many things that can affect Wi-Fi, it is difficult to say.
By copper I mean not full fibre. Nothing in the flat has changed other than the source of the internet, ie fibre (copper) to full fibre (optical)
Try changing WiFi channel.
Tried all this. Also just tried it again and kept booting my iPhone off of network.
none of the settings were changed, just the source and WiFi speeds tanked.

Before full fibre
after full fibre.
Hi @Tonyjones1985,
Welcome to the Community!
I'm sorry to hear you're having issues with your speeds. What are your speeds like when you have a wired connection?
Rach
Hi there. Topping out on Xbox at 150 and that’s to be expected as that’s the package we pay for.
Thanks for letting me know @Tonyjones1985. Have you spoken with our Technical team about the trouble you've been having?
Rach
I have yes. They said everything looks fine and settings look fine. I know the settings are fine as they are the same settings from when we was getting 70mb before the fibre install.
my next step is to get a third party router.
