Slow

For the last few days my laptop has been extremely slow in downloading. When I checked the speeds, I found that the download speed to the hub was 521 and the speed from the hub to the device was 328. why? Is that the cause of the slow download on the laptop and why has it suddenly started to happen? Is it actually possible to speak to someone at BT instead of having text messages which achieve nothing.

Re: Slow

How is your laptop connectedto your hub? If it is via wireless then there is nothing BT can do for you no matter how long you talk to them.

Re: Slow

328Mbps is in no way slow and you certainly wouldn't notice the difference between that and 521Mbps in downloading unless you were downloading massive multi GByte files.

Re: Slow

Can you suggest why I am suddenly having trouble opening pages such as Facebook. Amazon etc?

Re: Slow

Hi @Elizakate

Thanks for coming back to the community.

If you have a slow connection when using the laptop, please try the troubleshooting in the Fix your BT Broadband connection problems page. If this continues after you've tried these steps, you can log in to your account and we'll run tests to check for any connection problem you're having and let you know what is needed.

Thanks 🙂

Leanne.

Re: Slow

Hi Leanne

Thanks for your reply.  I went to Fix your BT Broadband connection problems page as suggested but it would not open. All that happened was a continually twirling circle. I then dug out my previous laptop and tried to connect on that one but I got the same result - a twirling circle. This would seem to indicate that the laptop itself is not the problem??

Re: Slow

@Elizakate  As suggested you really need to connect your laptop directly to the hub with an Ethernet cable if possible and see if that improves things. If you could let us know how you got on that would be great.
