I notice your downstream attenuation is 9.4dB.
If this was 6dB or sometimes 3dB for clean lines, that would increase your max attainable speed.
It might drop by itself over the next few days if the line is still settling after a fault.
The attenuation is 9.4 because the line is capped at 40M.
As far as I’m aware I’m not on the social tariff as I don’t have any qualifying benefits, it is a bit confusing tbh! BT wouldn’t offer me anything faster at all they just said the speeds would be the same regardless of the package.
A wee update - I was offered the option to upgrade to Fibre 1 after all (it appeared in my offers on the app) so I went ahead yesterday. However, I can see that the line is still capped at 40 despite being told I would get speeds of 45. Can anyone help with this at all, is there something I can do to have the cap removed, or someone I can contact? Many thanks!
check MYBT that you have been moved to fibre 1. if you have then try restarting the hub and see if the speed improves
Thanks for your replies! I had requested that the speed be changed within the hour when I placed the upgrade yesterday, and it did say that the order was complete in the tracking. However, when you actually go in to the order steps the last 2 steps aren’t green ticked, I wonder if it’s not quite finished yet? Restarting the hub hasn’t done anything unfortunately.
Have checked the technical log again this morning and I am still capped at 40/10. All of the steps on the order are now complete so looks like it hasn’t been removed? Is anyone able to help me get this lifted please? Many thanks 🙂
Final update! Spoke to the BT options team after finding their number on another thread. They are sending an engineer out to lift the cap on Tuesday, so fingers crossed that will sort it 🙂
changing your package profile to increase your speed is done internally by BT not by visit from openreach
