Good evening,
I've been having trouble for the past few weeks with the speeds dropping to basically 0 with an extremely high ping for a few minutes every couple of hours. Seems to be especially bad in the evenings. I've tried different devices to try and rule that out but they've all been the same and the problem is rectified when tethering to a phone with no association to the WiFi.
I've checked if there's problems in my area which I'm advised there's not and ran the online troubleshooter which results in restarting the router and the issues returns within an hour or two.
Is there anything else I can do to try and resolve this reccuring problem?
Thanks.
is your router dropping connection, hub changing colour from blue? or is internet connection ok and it is your wifi which is causing problems?
The router appears to be fine, no change in the lights. I've tried WiFi and devices plugged directly into the router but they both have the same issue.
sorry so you have tried an ethernet connection to your device from the hub and still getting problems can you run couple of speed tests - good and bad to show problem
The Ookla speedtest screenshots above look like a wireless device (a phone?).
One is at 10:16AM, the other at 11:17PM.
It may be that the wifi environment is much busier in the evenings when people have come home from work and are relaxing, than in the morning when things are often quieter.
I wonder if you have morning/evening speedtests from an ethernet-cable connected device such as a laptop, it could help to clarify things.
I did the test from my phone when I noticed that my pc (plugged into ethernet) was struggling to connect to anything and the test this morning to show my normal speeds. Next time it happens I'll do a test on my pc and post those.
Had the same problem the past few nights but not been able to capture it on a speed test but finally have been able to tonight. The slowness probably lasted around 5-10 minutes and now it's back to normal.
Ran the diagnostic tool last night and it restarted the router to try and resolve the problem but it recoccurred within an hour.
