Upload speed is awful / painfully slow (667kbps)

i have FTTC and live in a rural spot 1 mile from the cabinet...so appreciate its never gonna be fast (frustratingly)

i get circa 20-25mbps Download

But Upload is awful - takes ages for example to upload a PPT in work....didnt use to be this bad when i was with Vfone and Plusnet etc

Extract from the Hub Manager page (192.168 etc):

Downstream sync speed: 20.147 Mbps
Upstream sync speed: 667 Kbps

Can this be right?  in keeping with 20mb download?
Do i need to call Tech support ?   (i fear doing this as i will get asked all the same daft questions about my router, wire etc)

Many Thanks!

Re: Upload speed is awful / painfully slow (667kbps)

I think a chat with technical support is worth the effort, yes I am sure there will be some questions about the set up and whats been done but that won't take long they can then identify if there are any issues and investigate further.  Whilst there are plenty of things that can effect this, wired connection vs wireless and how many devices are on the network its worth an investigate

Re: Upload speed is awful / painfully slow (667kbps)

the copper line to my house is awful - over 25 years and 100% of the issues we have had is resolved by Open Reach coming to replace line or fix the line etc.   We have had several faults this year resulting in them patching up the line

So my strong suspicion is its the line....

What kinda speeds should i expect for 20mbps download?

Re: Upload speed is awful / painfully slow (667kbps)

My FTTC upload speed runs at about 1/4 of the download speed, so you should probably expect to get around 5Mbps upload.

Why is your router set to Full Fibre (FTTP) Mode:On when you have FTTC?

It doesn't matter, all it does is change port 4 from LAN to WAN

Re: Upload speed is awful / painfully slow (667kbps)

Router is default - i didnt edit that!  (FTTP)

i am using TP link Deco mesh, but (i) those numbers are from the router (ii) download and upload is same if i connect via LAN cable to the router direct.

Re: Upload speed is awful / painfully slow (667kbps)

Can you enter your address and post results to see what it shows as expected connection speed for your line.  Please add the notes as well.  https://www.broadbandchecker.btwholesale.com/#/ADSL/AddressHome
