Hello,
I have BT full fibre broadband and have a white modem box on the wall, and have a Ethernet cable that is connected from the white modem box and the other end is plugged into the WAN red socket on the back of the router, I would like to move the BT smart hub router to the hallway, can I use a Powerline adapter, one that is connected to the white modem box and the other powerline connected to BT smart hub router.
If this can be done can you send me instructions on how to set this up.
Can you tell me which BT powerline adapter I need to purchase.
Thanks

Yes, you can do that. I recommend you use the fastest TP Link device available.
Any if these will suffice, they are virtually plug and play.

Just be aware that that particular connection is technically outside of your network. (The WAN connection is part of the outside world). You can use the powerline adapters for that but you cannot use them for internal network traffic, (LAN traffic), at the same time.
Thanks for the information
will I still get the internet to work in my home and will I get TNT sport from BT to work on my EE TV pro box ?
Thanks
Yes, of course.
Whilst it will probably 'work', it's not something I'd personally recommend, especially if you're on a higher speed FTTP package.
In my experience Powerline can be intermittently flaky, and by inserting it between your hub and the ONT box, you're subjecting your entire network to any problems it may introduce.
Speeds across Powerline are also highly dependent on the quality of your electrical wiring e.g. let's say your wiring is only good enough for a ~250mbps Powerline link and you have a 500mbps fibre product. By putting the Powerline link on the WAN interface, no device in your home would be able to achieve more than 250mbps.
YMMV of course, just be mindful it might not be plain sailing.
Hello,
I have brought the TL-PA9020P Kit, can I plug the Ethernet cable from the white modem box on the wall straight into the powerline adapter to set the connection up.
can you let me know.
Thanks
Hello,
Have set up the powerline adapters and moved the router to the hallway and this now works fine.
The issue I am left with is that I am trying to use a Tp-line 5 port gigabit model LS1005G connected the Ethernet cable from the Tp-line 5 port gigabit to the powerline adapter and plugged the other Ethernet cables into the p-line 5 port gigabit switch it on but get no connection from my TV, EE TV Pro box.
Any more help would be great.
Thanks
I'm not sure I've understood you right but if you are trying to run the switch connected to the powerline then, as I said in message 3, if you are using the powerlines to connect the white modem box (the ONT) to your router, then that is the only thing you can use those powerline adapters for.
The arrangement you need is ONT > powerline > other powerline > router WAN port. You can then plug a 5 port switch into one of the LAN ports on the router. If you are trying to attach it to a second port on the powerline adapter, that will not work, as you are effectively connecting the switch directly to the outside world and they are not designed to do that.
